Dear Alumni and Alumnae of AIESEC in Switzerland
I’m hereby addressing myself as the President of AIESEC in Switzerland for the term 2015/2016. It is with big pleasure that I am writing this letter to all of you. My name is Rebecca Weimann, I’m originally from Bern, Switzerland and I joined AIESEC in fall 2012 in Fribourg. Being currently on the national level of in the current MC I’m holding the position of the Vice President for Talent Management and Organizational Development and am more than excited to do my part of re-establishing a strong bond between the Alumni Association and AIESEC in Switzerland.
Firstly I want to thank those of this Alumni network who have supported my team and me a lot throughout the current term. First of all, thanks to Corinne Binkert who has been our main contact person, coordinator, representative during our National Conferences (Do It and Kick Off), and Alumni representative during the review boards for the election process of the president of AIESEC in Switzerland 15/16 (MCP) and the ones for the member committee (MC) for the same term. I am more than grateful to have her by my side. Nextly I want to mention Joselyn Lauritzen who has – together with Sarah Gloor – started the mentoring program for interested members in our entity as well as the MC. I myself got a mentor, Yvonne Fischer and call myself fortunate to have a professional by my side whom I can have bi-weekly mentoring meetings. And thirdly, many thanks to Szabolcs „Sabi“ Mihalyi, Maria Hooper, Patrick Siffert, Iuliia Palamarchuk and Fabian Tschan who have been supporting us either during conferences in terms of delivering workshops and educating our members or being conference photographer and participating at review boards for the national level. There are many of you that I don’t know personally yet, that are in touch with the local levels (LC), especially in Geneva and Bern and so far I only received positive positive feedback from the LCs that get your support. We are very happy and fortunate to have you.
However, this letter is not only here to cherish the ones we are currently working with us, but to go one step further and revive the relation between the AIESEC Alumni Switzerland Association and AIESEC in Switzerland. It is my high interest to connect those two bodies and build up stronger network for the future. The reason behind is that every year we make it as our core to develop leadership in youg people, either through our member and team leader program or our exchange programs. However, the true impact we strive for to have can only be made visible if we stay in touch with you, our Alumni and Alumnae, as you are the true outcome of what this organization did in the past and to be there for the future generation.
As I’ve mentioned before I joined AIESEC in 2012 and ever since members of the Alumni Association have been people we occasionally worked with and maybe got to know during our National Conferences. In my opinion – and I’m on the same page with the Alumni/Alumnae I talked to – our bond can be stronger than this.
The way how AIESEC in Switzerland approached you in the past was often concerning delivering a workshop or a presentation during National Conferences, a lot of times last minute even. This is not only an unprofessional approach but doesn’t value who you are. On the other hand the Alumni network doesn’t attract a lot of recent members that left the organization. After talking to the board of AAS last week, both out expectations were set straight: There are a lot of Alumni in the network that are happy to support, however the first step needs to come from our side which means more concretely the projects we are working on and could imagine to get your support with. On the other hand AAS can provide us with attractive options for outgoing members to join your network which we can then promote. There are a lot of opportunities a relation between the two associations can bring and I’m highly motivated to invest the resources needed to make a revival happen. And as you will all know by now there is the 5 years Alumni reunion coming up at Do It in November. I am looking forward to meet and work with as many of you as possible starting from now, during my term as the next President and afterwards as an Alumna myself. Let’s make this year a turning point!

From the AAS Board: AAS & AiS In transition

One of the aims of AIESEC Alumni Switzerland is to support the active AIESECers. The board was doing so by delivering four sessions at the Team to Team transition of the Member Committee. We were very pleased to get to know the new team and are looking forward to work together with them!

With great pleasure several alumni delivered sessions in the team to team transition of the member committee of AIESEC in Switzerland, focused on swiss culture, general history and the history of AIESEC in Switzerland. Additionally alumni relations were discussed and focus areas set for the next year. The MC and the LCs will focus on internal Alumni Engagement Processes, whereas AIESEC Alumni Switzerland will focus on building up the network and engage more and more alumni on different levels.
Thanks to the experience of the international MC members in their home countries, we received many inputs for our work here in Switzerland. Many things will take still some time to be fully in place, like the Board of Advisors for the LCs. Other things are in the process already, such as the alumni track at DO-IT.

Also we have started a mentorship programme for the current members of the Member Committee by the alumni. Every teammember has a personal mentor with which they are already in contact or planning to get in touch soon.
We have already received several mentoring and coaching requests from LCs, therefore we would highly appreciate if more alumni would sign up on the mentoring database of AIESEC in Switzer-land, to ensure that we can provide mentors and coaches to all mentees.

AIESEC in Switzerland: Introducing the MC 2012/2013

The Member Committee 2012/2013 has started its term on July 1st this year. Eight people from eight countries and three continents will lead AIESEC in Switzerland together. We asked them what they think about alumni. To get to know their answers, please follow this link.

Not only is AIESEC in Switzerland one of the oldest members of AIESEC internationally, but also one of the most culturally diverse as a nation. I don’t think any one country better exemplifies the mission of AIESEC than Switzerland, and I am both honoured and extremely excited to be able to work with you all and see how this organization has lived the AIESEC experience for over 50 years.

President elect of AIESEC in Switzerland 2012/2013

4b547b6c2.16628375,2We are very happy to introduce to you the President elect of AIESEC in Switzerland, Theresia Schneider. Theresia is currently LCP in Basel, before that, she was President of the Career Days in Basel.
At the moment, Theresia is in the process to select the last person on her team, developing a national planning cycle and receive transition from Birgit. The full MC12/13 is arriving in Switzerland in the beginning of June for team-to-team transition.
The Board of AIESEC Alumni Switzerland is in close contact with the current MC and will also be with the incoming MC.

AAS at Discovery

With great pleasure Corinne and Patrick delivered a session on alumni engagement in the local committees for the incoming members of the executive boards, starting their term in July.
We introduced to them to different activities and events that could be done for and with alumni, what their benefits of working with Alumni would be, the annual timeline and how the LC can learn best from alumni.

It was very motivating to see how interested the incoming EB members were in terms of working with alumni and getting to know their alumni better. Also they had a chance to get a first glimpse at the planning process for alumni activities, which we got very positive feedback on. Planning alumni activities and interactions will become an integral part of the general LC planning process, done by the EBs together with their LC coach in the beginning of the term. We are indeed very pleased to see alumni activities kicking off in all LCs of AIESEC in Switzerland.
We will continue developing ways for active AIESECers to get involved with AIESEC Alumni here in Switzerland.

In addition to the session delivered to incoming EBs, AIESEC Alumni Switzerland as also actively involved in the Train the Trainers track at Discovery. Fabian was facilitating this track together with a second faci.

The goal of this track was to train experienced AIESEC members to become trainers for our Local Committees. After three days of intense trainings, session delivery and feedback sessions, they are now ready to train other AIESECers in and outside of Switzerland. We wish all of them a fruitful experience and many great sessions delivered!

AIESEC in Switzerland at the International Congress in Kenya

The MC has returned form the International Congress in Kenya. Birgit (President), Annamaria (MCVP Outgoing Exchange), Daniela (MCVP Incoming Exchange), Gustavo (AIESEC Swiss CareerDays President) and Theresia (LCP Basel) have spent three intense weeks on networking, exchange good case practices with other entities and actively influencing the future of our organization.

This IC was very important for the future of the organization, as the next midterm goals were defined. In the year 2015, AIESEC would like to achieve the following number of experiences

The Global Internship Program contains all internships in the management and IT sectors, whereas the Global Community Development Program contains develop-ment and educational internships.
